Welcome to the Kim group.

We synthesize building blocks of materials, using principles from organic and polymer chemistry, assemble them to have tailored functionalities, and apply them for diverse engineering applications, primarily energy and environmental. Porous crystalline polymers such as covalent-organic frameworks, metal-organic frameworks, and other porous polymers are our main foci. The versatility and modularity in the structures and thus tailored properties enable us to utilize them in, e.g., electrochemical or purification devices. The knowledge from materials chemistry guides the synthetic approaches and the results solve the problems that we are currently facing.
